The Sign Story

Our sign is finally up and finished thanks to a lot of help from Greg who repaired the original and our friend Kate ( a talented artist and sign painter) who worked on the finishing detail.

The sign has a history. Several years ago our friends Ken and Lauren from Apalachicola and Camden sent us a mysterious and oddly shaped package. When we opened it, it was a hand carved and lettered sign that said "BETSY'S" in very psychedelic rainbow colors...they had found it at an antique barn in Maine and being long time customers of Betsy's Sunflower in Apalachicola just had to get it for us! At the time I was recovering from recent surgery and getting back into retail was not high on my list, so the sign has lived happily in my garden shed where I have often been tempted when I looked at it to find a way to use it again.

You could say it has been a constant reminder that Betsy's had not yet disappeared for good! That reminder eventually turned into an inspiration and after a little bit of reworking the sign and the store live on! Thanks for the nudge Ken and Lauren.

The summer here is continuing to be fantastic, both the weather and the business have been outstanding! I am so grateful for the wonderful reception we have gotten here in Brooklin and all the nice folks who have stopped by to compliment the building and the business, say hello and wish us well. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm.

We continue to get in new things and are looking forward to the fall and holiday merchandise arriving. We are happy to special order most anything you might need, so let us know what you are looking for.

Don't forget, we ship anywhere! Gift wrapping is free, and special orders are our specialty!

Watch for photo updates of our product pages showing new fall and holiday merchandise and great ideas for gift giving and entertaining.

Enjoy every minute of the rest of this glorious summer!
